परिभाषा : WREN and MARTIN के अनुसार— “A preposition is a word placed before a noun or a pronoun to
show in what relation the person or thing denoted by it stands in regard to
something else.”
Preposition
1. Preposition of Motion-on, in, into, upon, across, along, though, from, to,
for, against …… etc.
2. Prepositions of Time – at, in, from, on, to, for, since, by, before,
between, etc.
3. Prepositions of Space (Place) on, in, at, by, between, under, across, in
front of, against ……etc.
Preposition of motion, time
1. She is running on the road. (Prep. of Motion)
He came on Monday. (Prep. of Time)
My book is on the table. (Prep. of Place)
2. The cat jumped upon the table. (Prep. of Motion)
She slept at 9 p.m. (Prep. of Time)
He is standing at the gate. (Prep. of Place)
Prepositions of Space (स्थान-सूचक
The child is
sitting under the tree.
इसी प्रकार अन्य स्थितियाँ (Positions) दर्शाने के लिए at, in, across, on, by, between, with, over, under आदि का प्रयोग करते हैं।
Prepositions of Motion-He jumped into the well.
अतः Preposition of Motion into’ का प्रयोग किया गया।
गति (Motion) दर्शाने हेतु अन्य Prepositions ये हैं – into, across, though, from, to, up, down, against, along, for,
out of, onto आदि।
Prepositions of Time (समय-सूचक प्रेपॅजिशन्ज) का प्रयोग
This morning I
got up after four.
वाले कुछ अन्य Preposition of Time हैं….
At, after, by, before, between, from, for, since, till, in, on,
during, through आदि।
